Your job is only as good as your boss.  Based on research by Gallup, 70% of the factors that lead to someone being engaged in their work is influenced by what their manager says and does.  This relationship is key, as strong managers lead to engaged staff that lead to happy customers.  

We are often promoted because we know how to get things done. However, when we manage others we need to do the opposite and do things through others.  How to do this?  Turn bosses into coaches. 

The challenge is no one has shown us how. The Boss to Coach program is designed to help.

What you learn.  The 5 coaching conversations a boss should have with their team 

We don’t check in and guide our people enough.  There are simple yet effective conversations and tools that can support a team’s move from performance management to performance development. Conversations designed to be frequent, focused, future-oriented, strengths-based.  The five conversations are 

  • Setting Expectations Values, Motivations, Purpose, Priorities. Once per year. If new 
    after 3 months 

  • Everyday Feedback Management by Walking Around Daily 

  • Check In Individual and team review, planning and prioritisation 1-2/Month 

  • Development Plan Once per year to set-up  Then Ongoing in Check In and Progress Review 

  • Progress Review Every 6 Months 

These 5 conversations are supported by the CliftonStrengths tool.  This helps to understand your natural ways of thinking, feeling and behaving, and to being able to apply these for optimal personal performance. 

By the time you finish this programme you will 

  • Understand and appreciate your strengths  

  • Have and know how to use a number of tools and skills to manage people well 

  • Confident that the answer does not lie with you, but with your team.  Your role is to coach it from them 

  • Understand yourself and others by asking good and relevant questions at the right time 

  • A shift in focus on development versus management.  When people grow organisations grow 

Here’s what’s inside

SIX ONLINE LEARNING COURSES

Each with 12-13 interactive lessons.  Have access to everything from the moment you sign up.  This course is designed to be taken in bite sized chunks.  An investment of 1-2 hours per week.  Each module takes 4 weeks.

About your trainer Jason Biggs 

Having been in the trenches of management myself, I know firsthand how little support is often available. That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to coaching, mentoring, training, and resourcing others to manage both themselves and their teams effectively. 

As a former boss, I wish I had known what I’ve learned over the past decade. My experience spans hundreds of organisations, from senior leadership teams to frontline managers, from large corporations to small teams of five. I’ve coached and trained thousands from organisations including Chapman Tripp, Downer, Freightways, Nestlé and Reckitt.  Always with a commercial mindset, my focus is on delivering solid business outcomes through practical, easily applied tools.
